Welcome to Fareham & Gosport
Clinical Commissioning Group's website
What does that mean?
The Fareham and Gosport Clinical Commissioning Group (FGCCG) is a group formed from 21 GP practices based in Fareham and Gosport. The FGCCG is responsible for implementing more local health care in centres that are closer to patients’ home.
Why Did That Happen?
Following the last general election, the government reorganised the NHS. Clinical Commissioning Groups were set up in order that GPs throughout England and Wales have more responsibility for services provided to their patients.
To Sum Up:
The overall aim of the FGCCG is to provide health care services that are designed to meet Fareham and Gosport needs.
For example, the FGCCG region contains a high area of deprivation and deaths from cancer or smoking related diseases are above the national average. Other priority areas include child obesity, teenage pregnancy and alcohol related harm.

Where possible we are trying to help our patients avoid lengthy and sometimes difficult trips (in terms of transport) to our major hospitals. We are investing in specialist clinics based within a GP practice or Community Hospitals and working closely with our patient groups and service providers to promote excellent local care.
